It's Fund Drive at KCSB

For this KCSB Fund Drive edition of Schooled Radio, we talk with Professor Dick Flacks, host of KCSB's Culture of Protest. Culture of Protest is the longest running show on KCSB and grew from a love of music and appreciation for its power to transform. Professor Flacks is an emeritus professor of sociology at University of California, Santa Barbara. His work focuses on roots and strategies of social movements and the American left, Making History: The American Left and the American Mind(1988); the social psychology of political activism, Beyond the Barricades(1989); and culture and social movements. He's produced a weekly radio program on music and politics since 1982.

Bits of music you may have noticed: Yo La Tengo, "Georgia Vs. Yo La Tengo," Drive-By Truckers, "What It Means," Dave Alvin and Jimmie Dale Gilmore, "Deportee (Plane Wreck at Los Gatos)."
