Dr. Adanari Zarate, Associate Director of ÉXITO
This week Schooled Radio talks to Dr. Adanari Zarate about her research on the educational experiences of students of color, sociocultural linguistics, and why ethnic studies is so important.
Dr. Zarate has a PhD in Chicana and Chicano Studies from UC Santa Barbara, an MA in Social and Cultural Analysis of Education from Cal State Long Beach, and a BS in Child and Adolescent Development from Cal State Fullerton. She has worked in educational settings for over 10 years, primarily focusing on high school and higher education students. Her research expertise is in Critical Pedagogy, Educational Experiences of Students of Color, and Sociocultural Linguistics. Dr. Zarate is currently the Associate Director for the ÉXITO program at UC Santa Barbara.
